Office Cleaning Tips

Maintaining your office clean and tidy can be challenging, especially if it's a communal area.

Whether we are talking about a small office at home or a large corporate client, there are similar principles you can apply specifically for the office environment.

Office Cleaning Tips

Some simple changes should make the cleaning of your office a much more straightforward and efficient process for all involved.

Here are our best bits of advice:

Clutter-free Desk

We all have a corner on our desk where we keep adding a big pile of documents. It's on our to-do list to sort that pile one day, but it doesn't happen too often.

Make a weekly habit of sorting that pile off, minimize other items on your desk, and you will notice an improvement in your office appearance. Next morning, a clean and tidy desk will help you start the day on a positive note.

Electronics

Remember electronics need cleaning too. It is essential to disinfect computers, laptops, phones, and copiers as they are the most touched surfaces in the workplace.

Before you start cleaning electronics, don't forget to unplug them. Most manufacturers have specific instructions for cleaning electronic equipment to look up the correct method before going ahead. A microfibre cloth will save you on most types of equipment.

Checklists

A working day is full of meetings, emails, phone calls, and other tasks. In a blink of an eye, a new week has started again. Who knows how many weeks have passed without tidying up your office.

It's almost impossible to stick to a consistent cleaning schedule without following a checklist.

A checklist will also help you keep track of things that need periodic maintenance. This way, you can always stay ahead of the game and focus on your work.

Bins

We cannot stress enough about the importance of bin cleaning. Bins are the perfect place for all types of bacteria.

Wipe the bin lid a couple of times a week, using a disinfecting cleaning product.

Once a week, clean the inside of the bin with disinfectants. Use a brush or broom to remove the stubborn waste. You don't need any mold developing, so make sure the bins are fully dry before use.

Wipe the exterior of the bin every week to ensure proper decontamination.

Regularly change the liner to make sure it remains clean.

Wires and Cables

Although we are trying to go wireless as much as possible, we still have plenty of cables around.

Loose wires from computers and other electronic devices breach health and safety regulations and could be a trip hazard. You must check around the office and tidy up tangled or exposed wires that could pose a trip hazard or electrical risk.

Deep Cleaning

No matter how thoroughly you stick to the regular cleaning tasks set out above, there will always come a time for deep cleaning.

Office deep cleaning is more thorough than a standard clean and is designed to remove old dirt. Bathroom and kitchen descaling needs extra attention as well. In addition, windows, carpet & upholstery cleaning are key factors in the deep cleaning process.

We recommend deep cleaning services 2-3 times per year.
